Red dots on pistols

Y’all making me want to go experiment. I have a couple pistols with a RDS and no back up irons. I will leave the dot off. Use a USPA target and see what kind of hits I can get at 5, 7, 10, and 15 yards.
I’ve got a little over 10k rounds on this gun for USPSA plus I carry the smaller version of it so my index is pretty good with it. I’ll try to get it done in a day or two and post some pics.

I’ve had a rear sight break apart mid stage on a 1911.
Must be the environment, not the hardware.
Shouldn’t have been using it so hard like that. Then it wouldn’t have happened.

Good irons will be running years after a RDS has run outa batteries...cracked its glass or lost zeros and took a crap out due to being left in hot cars ham handed abuse etc.Not likely however in the event I have a pebble stuck in the rear sight,it can be remedied quickly in a # of ways
Go do it... you will have far less accuracy without BUIS however through repetition and training it can be done.. it’s referred to as point shooting... it is a very hard skillets to master (no I have not even come close to be any good at it).
Typically within 3-7 yards and a perp on you, you pulled to shoot, you would be point shooting... this is fact IOT get the perp somewhat incapacitated enough to potentially not come for more to stop aggression.... typically within that range and a highly motivated perp your not acquiring BUIS due to distance and aggression levels....

Ensure to get rid of all polymer BUIS... they are garbage... find the BUIS you like in Steel and install them or have them installed..... they will last..
When installing BUIS use loctite for added retention.

I point shoot all the time in a match. Very rarely under 10 yards do I see a dot in the window.
oh I know I can do it. More of a point to show that it can be done.
