Red dots on pistols

never said i did and i wasn't the one that got offended over the comment "ounces equal pounds" then started a butt hurt tyrade defending your choice to put optics on a pistol. BTW, optics on a edc is GHEEEYYYYYYEEEEEE !

Guy who use Agency for smith work are definitely not mall ninjas. I bet you have Walmart bought optic on your Remington 770 don’t you?

I dont want anyone to think I dont believe in MRDS,because I do...they have their place and at some point,I believe they will have evolved to be as tough and bomb proof as GOOD irons on a sidearm....key word being iron. Some are good very good like Trijicons MRDS,but Ill still take mine without the batteries Thank You.Wonderfully accurate, and the ones with the smaller MOA dots make hitting at extended ranges almost easy.I get it,thats the attraction and why they have become so popular on sidearms. However, with all that said,if I were to have to spend an extended time in the suck,in harms way,FOR NOW....my combat sidearm would be wearing just a GOOD ole school set of irons K.I.S.S. I can bet my life of them,(set up correctly)each and every time, without fail.I have no problem at all with them as a nightstand duty, truck gun, range gun, hunting gun etc.Just wish they could do something about the dim view...dont like looking through shaded glass.I want all the clarity possible

That's just the thing. Irons and a red dot are not mutually exclusive. Have the red dot mounted properly and irons that co-witness.

The thing with most mrd sights, and I'm surprised that no one has touched on it yet, is they they are susceptible to mud. Get mud/dirt/junk on the diode or on the rear of the glass, and that red dot is down. Aimpoint is attempting to fix this issue with the acro, but it had some issues. When we have good quality enclosed units, thin like an aimpoint t1/h1/etc, the MRDS will begin to truly take over.

Mud and debris and all that stuff that you mentioned up above, has been mentioned as environments and environmental conditions. You’re absolutely correct and what is it you’re saying with mutual exclusive one serves the other however one goes down and the other serves as the primary site.

Jumped the gun....I see your points.Good points

I know tons of folks love the high-end optics (I was that way as well). I was looking for an option for less cost that would have the zero retention and the RDO not blur.

Maybe take a look at the vortex viper.. much cheaper and work really well.

I’m please with them. I have one on a 19 and one on a 320... no complaints with 1800 through the 19 and 1200 through the 320.... has worked well for me... The biggest upside is I’m not in a puddle of tears when it go’s down other than a power source.

These optics are like 220ish to 240ish.... Don’t get me wrong, I’m still bummed but atleast I’m not having to replace for big bills....

Nice light weight... window is clear, dot-crisp and no putter edge to obstruct vision.
