Red dots on pistols

Correct my understanding is that he has complete faith in his MRDS no longer needing his buis correct me if I’m wrong chaos

I look at it like this-

what is the percent chance I will ever need to use my gun is SD?

on the already sleight chance I need to use my gun in SD- what is the chance that when I have to use it that my optic also fails?

I also have a very strong understanding and confidence of my shooting ability within 15 yards with an optic with a dot that magically failed- failed at the same time I needed to shoot someone in the face.

the percentages are so low. Gun on left is my CO gun. Gun on right is EDC.

do you have an optic on a gun?

And what was the chance the US Army special forces and the Ranger Regiment needed anything for the mission in Mogadishu because it was supposed to be a quick snatch and grab when it turned into an all day ass whooping by the Somali militia there to protect Farrah aidid...

Most of the boys that went in on that mission did not take canteens did not take plates only took a few magazines only because it was supposed to be a quick mission. During that mission the US special operations took massive casualties not to mention Shugart and Gordon the sniper team overhead were shot down in their Blackhawk and ultimately killed on the battlefield. It’s not all about I don’t need it because it’s all about what if. You may never have to draw on anybody in a self-defense situation. Count your blessings that’s a great day.

What happens when the optic goes down for whatever reason and you in a situation you need to place accurate fire on a target or a perp?

Once you get a Trijicon RMR and stop using the cheap stuff you’ll soon realize it isn’t going to magically just break. Those instances are common among the “budget” red dots.

I challenge you to come back to this conversation once you have quality gear and a respectable amount of time using and abusing it.

I’d go out on a limb and say 99.99999% of people who utilize a Trijicon RMR on this forum have not had a failure, but those who use the budget brands have at a much higher percentage.

For the same reason I choose Aimpoint optics for rifle red dots I also choose the Trijicon RMR for my handguns.
The chance of it failing is so small that I’m willing bet my safety and life that my firearm or ammunition would fail before either of those will.

Budget optics are not something you mess with if you are actually depending on it to work all the time.
