Red dots on pistols

I continued the numbering system used above Incase all were wondering why I started at # 24.

24). Mr. Booshie Low light operations/ operations conducted during hours of limited visibility:

25). Tactical IR Illuminators are commonly used for military, law enforcement and transportation applications where the faint red glow of 850nm LEDs is undesirable. IR Tactical Illuminators are available in a variety configurations, including: Indoor & outdoor, long range, Compact, Indoor IR fixtures and PoE powered options.

26). If your employing Nods/Wpn combo without an IR or white light illuminator your doing yourself and those around you a disservice. You Probability of Hit (PH) or Probability of Incapacitation (PI) are severely reduced.

27). * Sights on a “Positive Identification of threat” to conduct the engagement without an illuminator, IR or white light.

28). * Threat ID, Threat discrimination is greatly reduced

29). Keep in mind, the shooter is responsible to any and all projectiles that leave his or her muzzle. What happens when or if you hit an unexpected person when conducting a very deliberate action????

30). In my opinion (As we are all entitled to), it is very irresponsible to employ a weapon under hours of limited visibility without some sort of IR illuminator/ Light (IR/white) combo.

31). If I may ask your background? Please be honest so I understand the context of where your coming from when you speak.

32). Militarily speaking- In the 90’s and early 2K’s we used to use all the platoon's Dragon trackers (daysights and nightsights) 24 hours a day. Thermal sights can be used in the day, in smoke and dust; and the daysight can be used at night along with illumination. Usually the Platoons leadership were issue PVS5’s (these things were terrible). This is when not everyone was issued Nods.

33). Now, pre OEF and OIF everyone started to receive nods and IR illuminators (through the Soldier Enhancement Program (SEP), Marine Enhancement Program (MEP) and Rapid Equipping Force (REF). LEO agencies are not permitted to use Military equipment with the exception of very few instances however, They have started their own acquisition strategies to parallel what the US Military is doing just not and a grand scale.

34). (U.S. DoD Definition concerning Target Discrimination):

The ability of a surveillance or guidance system to identify or engage any one target when multiple targets are present.

35). (U.S. DoD Definition concerning Target Identification):

36). Discretely and positively determine, by any means, the identity of tactical units, their equipment, and personnel, or of phenomena, such as communications-electronic patterns. Distinguish these forces from hostile or unknown forces and means, one from the other.

37). This applies to both day and night/ hours of limited visibility operations.

38). I can not speak for LEO’s nor their agencies. If you would like to discuss that, you need to get current LEO’s and their CoC’s involved to discuss TTP development, Training and implementation of anything used during hours of limited visibility.

39). I am now confused, and concerned that we all now know your in possession of Nods (to your credit, not illegal) and may or may not have some sort of illumination (IR) but choose to make a point without one on your weapon.

40). Combat identification (CID) applies to Civilians on the Battlefield (COB’s) and Combatants: THIS IS IMPORTANT-> The process of attaining an accurate characterization of detected objects throughout the operational environment sufficient to support engagement decisions. The detected object is correctly identified by proficiently applying a family of situational awareness (SA) and target identification (TI) capabilities. Approved rules of engagement (ROE) and tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) are then used to support combatant shoot/don’t shoot decisions for detected objects in their operational environment.

41). ALL OF THIS SAID, SAME APPLIES TO CIVILIAN LIFE. Just like the CIV LEO’s the Military too has to answer now a days for Personnel killed in line of duty. A 15-6 investigation is started and 90% of the investigations are completed in a timely manner. The only time they are not is when the area in question with action is highly contested and combat operations are ongoing.

42). Bottom line- Again speaking to the irresponsible choices made when selecting a weapon and enabler combination IOT conduct personal home defense operations...

43). I can just see it now: Wait Mr. Perp, don’t do anything bad yet (Wherever your located), I have to untuck myself and find something to be accurate with IOT try to incapacitate you without BUIS (Observations made many times within this thread, may not be you) or and enabler.... awww damn, I’ll just do this in a spray and pray manor! Okay Mr. Perp you can continue to do what you came to do and I will attempt to stop you.

**** Break****

44). Mr. Goodbar , go ahead and stop while you have something you think is worth mentioning to make an attempt to make yourself relevant in any conversation(s) that have taken place. This is grown folks going back and forth.

**** Break****

45). From what I am understanding ChimChim was banned from this thread. I’m curious as to why.

46). So now someone is silencing and sensoring someone for having an opinion. This is definitely some liberal **** to do, “I don’t like what you have to say and it doesn’t fit (My) narrative so we’ll make t so you cant have a Point of view heard...... WTF Over.. That’s some childish BS..... He has a right to have an opinion like every-damn-body in this ODT community. Someone is a censoring MF’r! That’s BS!

47). Unitedfpt , You are absolutely correct when you say you feel like it comes to personal preference. All I have tried to help with is education. I hope I was able to get you to a place where your able to make a sound decision.

48). Back to Mr. Booshie , BTW gen 1 tubes are severely outdated and you should upgrade for clarity at night since your such a badass. Sorry for this, needed to be said.

49). Since you haven’t provided your background with proof, I can only assume you have nothing professionally to reply with, only coming from a standpoint of being a Want to be, wished I was or I coulda been.

50). If you have some professional insights, please keep on and please provide your background. Please be honest so I am able to understand where your coming from when you speak.

51). If the above doesn’t apply to you, you wont be offended.

Ok I’m out....

BTW there are better tubes out there that provide better clarity than Gen 1 Tubes in Nods... May wanna consider dumping money into those so you can see your sights without enablers.

When you reply, because you wont be able to help yourself. Please provide you honest background so ODT can understand the context of where you come from when you speak.

Is this a professional POV or a FUDD POV. Difference is one has years of professional development and professional training and the other is Internet’s commando type shiznit.

I didn't realize that one needs to be ex-military to use good kit and/or to know how to shoot and use said kit. Please expand there. How does prior military or leo work give immediate credence? Some of the worst shooters I have ever been around are LEO.

Maybe you should pay attention to more than just the last or last two posts and actually look at and read the information that has been put before you and so many to help aid and assist folks that have questions....

Maybe providing information for the OP and others needed to make a sound decision to help drive folks to a capability based acquisition without pimping a certain product...

Recap for every one:

1- Discussions (some not fun to be apart of) have taken place concerning RDO’s needing to be on a EDC weapon. (From OP)

2- The need to BUIS (debate ongoing).

3- The need to purchase good gear equals expensive otherwise not worth getting.

4- Night operations/ lowlight operations with sidearms (The need for Weapon enablers) including Nods

5- all of the in between BS I don’t think helped the OP.

I’m sure I have missed some thing and the goon squad will promptly let me know about it... I have faith.

I don’t really care about the argument but just throwing this out there to stir the pot and leave

Thinking being ex military or Leo makes you an expert in anything firearm or gear related is quite interesting. Most of my friend that went into the military or became Leo were quite retarded (one even managed a 0.4gpa in automotive school so he dropped out and became infantry) and it’s a little scary that people depend on them. they aren’t exceptional shooters by any standard or knowledgeable on anything outside of what they were issued.

Governments philosophy is it just has to meet the standard and the budget. That applies to gear and people. Unless you’re swat or S.F.

From everything I've heard from high level shooters this is about right. I don't claim to be military, LEO anything like that just a beginner in a hobby, but I've heard that simply the title of former LEO/Military doesn't necessarily mean someone really knows what they are talking about past basic knowledge.

You were good, until you went off the deep end late yesterday. When all else fails, resort to copy of and paste from the training manual is apparently the kool-aid you drank. You proved your lack of knowledge on anything night related when you determined the pics shown as Gen 1.

That was early this morning. And it’s what is doctrine as well as what is used and in practice today.

I’d I were still in the service I could provide you a link to it however I am a retiree and don’t have access as it is CAC enabled only.

Look at you doing some reading...
