Refinishing an old S&W 39-2

I do not trust my level of skill in refinishing it. But, Brian Ott did recommend someone in Florida and I have an email out to him. Looks like it's gonna cost about another $250-$300 to refinish it. Not sure I am wanting to invest that much into this gun, so I may just get a can of Rustoleum? LOL
If you're going to refinish it to try and bump up the value so you can sell it you're correct, a good reblue will cost you more than the gun is worth, especially since 90-95% examples can be had for $400-$450 quite easily. That's probably why it didn't sell before now that I think about it.

If I get it refinished, it will be for me to keep, not sale. But, I also don't won't to put more money in it than it is ever going to be worth. And, that's what is going to happen, if I get it refinished. I just may have to live w/ a beat up gun.

There's the rub. They aren't getting any cheaper. There's a lot to be said for a gun with character. Were it me, I'd invest in some spare mags and a good leather holster and a new set of springs and shoot the crap out of it. :)

View attachment 853548 You might want to try this, I am curious as to how well it works

This stuff is awesome. Just follow instructions. Takes about 8 coats. Took me a little over an hour to do a complete gun. I've done a muzzleloader and a .410 shotgun and they turned out perfect. Awesome product.
