Reloading supplies future

I’ve stocked heavy in reloading supplies, powder, primers, and bullets. I believe the price is going to increase and probably availability is going to decrease. I was going to order more bullets this month but federal tax hit me hard and I’ve got insurance and tags to pay.

As a fan of No Country for Old Men please allow me to quote "It's not the one thing".
Tariff's, excise tax, sales tax, shipping, hazmat shipping, local sales tax. Monopoly owners setting exuberant retail prices. reloading components used to be in a category called a convenience item. Reloading components are slow movers and were sold at little profit at the local retail level. That has changed greatly since 2008 as a few companies keep buying and consolidating brands.

The only one's making profit are those charging taxes, shipping and the brand owners. In order to keep the doors open these BIG companies have to generate 30% plus profit margins month in and month out. I believe the big companies will feel the most pain, but if managed well they have the resources to survive another Trump slump. On line retailers are dropping ammo prices FAST! They have to get rid of the inventory before the new lower priced ammo floods the market. It's happening in real time on line, your local shop will most likely lose out when unable to compete with the online "hands off" middleman sellers. You can hedge your bets. Buy now in the short slump or wait and win, or lose. If you plan on shooting, you'll pay regardless of the cost. Maybe not as much, but you'll pay or get a new hobby.

simply...the ability to load your own ammo is worth the price.....keep/buy enough for yourself, and your children...that's about as far a I can think...I am to the point, where most of the reloading stuff I buy today will either be enjoyed by my children, or, thrown in the trash...either way...I have no control....

Sad to think too

We are always just one major world event/war/election from going back to ammo shortages. After seeing $650/100 for 9mm and $1000/1000 for 223, I will keep reloading supplies on hand.
I have enough, I guess. Just have to be sparingly about it. I've been trying to get myself in a situation I felt I could buy and shoot. I was getting really close, probably less than a year. With the times as they are now, it maybe years. I ain't getin any younger and it's already been 5yrs down the road

This tarrif thing is just conditioning our minds that they will increase the prices.
Same thing happens every election that fear mongering by so called "pro 2A" vendors. They are just there to profit. Being "pro 2A" is how they make money.

I learned my lesson back in the time when hardly any components were available. I will not be caught short again. If you have the money, buy in bulk. Figure out what you shoot the most of, and lay it in. If you’re serious about shooting and have the money, lay in 8 lb jugs of powder, primers by the 5k, and projectiles as much as you can afford. If you are into handguns, consider lead bullets or coated from places like Missouri Valley. Consider the $50/yr for free shipping from Brownells and watch for their “free hazmat” days. Again, if you are serious God help us.
