I came into a 870 SuperMag that is not wanting to feed a shell and the carrier does not want engage and lift. With the action open, the carrier will engage and work properly throughout the entire cycle if I push it up about 1/4" until it clicks. However, on the next cycle it once again refuses to engage. I have stripped it down and do not see any obvious proken or damaged parts and the carrier dog and spring seem to be fine, but I am no shotgun expert so I don't know exactly how all the parts are supposed to move and work together.

With it disassembled, If I push down on the carrier dog it will pop the carrier up. Likewise, if I push down and too the rear it will pop the carrier up. However, If I pull the carrier dog straight back it will not. Is that a problem?

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I can take pictures and/or provide more information.
