What do you want to know? Value? History? Right now it's a crude home hack job luckily the ears have not been ground off and with a stock and some barrel bands it can be brought back to life.
The British had 3 US company making them in 303 britt. The P14 for the war effort fast forward we entered the war and need small arms since we were already tooled up for for the p14 we said screw you great brittan we are going to chamber them in 30-06 to give to our boys.
Check the barrel date to see if it matches the reciever build date. Original barrel is cool lots kept them but again lots got re-barreled after the war.
Put it back to factory please.

That's a Sporter stock. It appears your sight carrier ears are missing up front (easy enough fix). Stock sets with metal will be a little pricy. I'd leave it alone.
Not even close to original. But luckily who ever chopped it was lazy so the most important parts that cant be reattached were left alone.
In that shape 300-350. It will cost another few hundred to bring it back.
Definitely keep it. Was a gun he was issued? Or just owned ? And if you take it back to original the added weight will help with that recoil. And in original condition they bring 7-900 bucks depending on condition.
