My son is 3 and waaaay into snakes and lizards. Does anyone know a reputable company or big expo that sells reptiles? We are in Gainesville, FL so maybe a big traveling expo or a place to order from. It’s important that it’s a reputable company for animal welfare.

I am looking at ball pythons, hog nose snakes, and bearded dragons. Any other recommendations?

good timing, Repticon Atlanta is coming up.

Throughout the years, I've had: bearded dragons, frogs, geckos, turtles, salamanders... salt water aquariums, fresh water aquariums. Things not in a tank: chickens, ducks, cows, cats, dogs, goat, pheasant. It was like a Noah's Ark at my house once upon a time. Vast majority of reptiles were bought from a semi-local pet store.

I have ball pythons. Easy to keep and low maintenance. Just know that you can only put a single specimen in a tank. They only require minimal things in a tank, heat, water, bedding, and a good top cover. They also live 20-30 years with proper care so not something that will die in a year or two. Easy to handle and not real fragile and not normally agressive . Only downside is that they are rodent eaters and you will be getting mice/rats on a regular basis. You can teach them to eat frozen/thawed with practice.

Here is the site for reptiles that you can spend hours on.

My brother had a couple of snakes , a Python and a boa over the years.
I had a Mexican red leg tarantula for a few years ! They are cool, when they shed, the skin and the live spider look just alike !! Hard to tell which is which until one moves ! I would put the skins around my apartment, people would see them and think the live spider got out !! It would freak them out ! 😂
