Repurposed items

I converted a Redbull mini fridge into an incubator.

It has an automatic egg turner and digitally controlled temperature and humidity.

My hatch rates are AWESOME.

Yeah. I had been wanting a cabinet incubator for awhile, but just couldn't bring myself to pay the $1000+ that a good one cost, so I had to make my own. I've got about $250 total in mine, and it will end up paying for itself over the years as I sell chicks every Spring.

I got the idea from a reptile breeding site. Evidently snake and lizard eggs are pretty hard to hatch, so those guys build these mini fridge incubators because of the great insulation in them and the fact that there are already fans in them to circulate the air.

Everything in mine is automatic, plus there are lights and fans inside, so there are a BUNCH of wires behind the control panel, but it was really pretty easy to put together and get working.

It took me about a week to build, just messing with it a little bit every evening after work.
