Review: Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory Target Gun

Well, I made it to the range tonight and ran a comparison. The three guns I used are shown below. The top is the Buckmark 'target' model. The middle is the S&W Victory, and the bottom is the Ruger MkIII 22/35 Lite.

The target below was shot with (4) different ammo types, going from left to right, CCI Blazer, Lapua Standard+, Fiocchi Std velocity and Eley Sport. I put 5 rounds through each gun for each ammo type at 7 yards, using my range bag as a rest. Not ideal but the only way I could stabilize things.. The bottom row is all the S&W, with each ammo type in its column, and was shot at 11 yards.

As you can see, the Smith did well. Not as accurate as the Browning, but slightly tighter groups than the little Ruger.

I paid a little visit to the range tonight myself. I had to give my new SW22 another workout, and I wanted to measure some more triggers on a few other guns. I think I ended up shooting a couple hundred rounds, all free hand standing, all at 50'. It was a blast to say the least, and the new SW22 Victory held it's own.

Here are the trigger stats on the two AMT Lightnings on the left in the picture above. The VQ setup in the second gun is stupid ridiculous!

I picked up one of these S&W Victory's for the wife's birthday.
We haven't shot it yet (birthday is March 8th).
Thanks for this post toolbaroque I've been wondering how it would do and trying very hard not to sneak it out...
From this post I can see it'll serve her well.

She will love it. The taper of the grip will allow her to keep a good handle on the gun as she fires it.

Good luck... give us a report!

Word of warning, however; Don't shoot it ahead of time or you might be looking for something else to give her on the 8th!

Don't shot it ahead of time, lol. I know! I know! That's why I was so tickled with the thread, it helps me hold off, lol.

Your Buckmark sure does like the Fiocchi ammo.. Nice... It looks like you might be 2 clicks to the right.. :) Good shooting. Thanks for sharing..

That thing is HIDIOUS. HIDIOUS x 10.

just FYI, I offer a FREE disposal service to all my ODT brothers in the event they wind up with a hideous firearm such as this contraption. :boink:
Ahhh, but you do know what "they" say... "Get an ugly one, she'll treat you better"!
