You are assuming:

1 They don't intend to kill you anyway.
2 Scared punks without formal training don't accidentally shoot you.
3 One guy does not get a wild hair and kill you.
4 They are robbing and not kidnapping you.
5 They are not ISSIS wannabes wanting to separate your head from your shoulders.

It worked out for the guy but there are a hundred scenarios where compliance does not.

Heres the way I look at. If they wanted to shoot you they would have shot first. They obviously just wanted the money and I believe that most thugs do just want money. Will they run at the first sign of resistance? Its possible but its also possible that they get spoked and shoot you first. Like you said there are hundred scenarios, each different. Some have a good outcome, some doesn't.

I agree with brad sweet though about the situational awareness. Living in baltimore I have became adept at it.

Be aware and ready if the opportunity arises, but I'm not sacrificing myself to the God of ego either. Each situation is different with different options. If you already have decided your course of action, you will more than likely lose. But your pride will be intact...

let us assume..for a moment..how could that have been prevented? let us mow over some training..first never go to a late night ATM..if you have to dont go alone. when you are there your partner needs to communicate potential problems and be super focused. Have a weapon within reach ready for a problem. watch if anyone follows you..know your route and a possible escape route..drive around making left hand turns to see if someone follows..never stop if you dont have to. leave enough room between a car in front of you and if you cant have the steering wheel turned to ram corner of bumper..if all else fails and you seem to be stuck and perps exit the car..dont wait..if you see a gun..leave or start shooting..you are in eminent danger for your life at this point..be on the phone with 911 the entire time

I don't assume they will shoot anyway. I know that compliance gives them carte blanche where my life is concerned.
