Ruger 10/22 is the most overrated gun ever.

Little bit late to the party but here’s my 2 cents. I wouldn’t say the 10/22 is over rated in its factory form. I own and shoot both Marlin 60s and 10/22s the ruger in my opinion is a better design due to the fact that it’s completely modular, it’s cold hammer forged barrel, and the wide array of aftermarket parts. Plus you can get 25 shot mags from ruger that actually work right, you can’t do that with the Marlin.

Out of the box, which one shoots more accurate for you.

This is of course my opinion but, Id rather carry the 10/22 with a 15 round mag because the 25 round sticks out to far. I own 30 round Glock mags but wouldn't carry them under normal circumstances but it is nice to have the option. I think the biggest benefit is they are mags so, I could carry 4 preloaded mags vs having to reload the tube.

10/22 has Glock syndrome. People say how great it is after basically building their own gun. Best thing to happen to guns is putting the serial on FCU.

I have both, a 10/22 and a Marlin model 99. The10/22 can be fitted with more accessories, built as you like it, more rnds in magazine. The model 99 Marlin is the precursor to the model 90, but has a longer barrel and magazine tube holding 18 in the tube and one in the chamber. More dependable and more accurate. The only problem with the 99 is one time I used crappy remmy ammo. The 99 is the first rifle that I bought in 1965, still with me, still functions as it should, and I will pass it down to my son when I no longer have a use for it. If God would let me carry it in Heaven, I would take it with me. Maybe the flippers would not be hoarding ammo there. lol

Both rifles that I own are bone stock other than a set of fiber optic sights. Here’s a little bit of knowledge, 22 lr bore diameters are not standardize so each makers barrel is little bit from each other, they vary from .223-.226. The Marlin shoots 40gr HP mini mags the best and the 10/22 shoots the HP 36gr black pack federals the best. When I do mod my stuff I use the Jeff Cooper principle sights you can see and a trigger you can manage.

I'd put up my modded 10/22 against a model 60 any day. Stock a 10/22 isnt that much more expensive than a model 60 so I don't know where the 2-3x the cost comment the op made came from. I bought mine new in the box for 200. Model 60 is maybe 1/3 cheaper? I like the ruger mags better. And the options from aftermarket support allow you to do anything you want to it. Not much aftermarket support for the model 60 although its certainly not a bad rifle.
