Ruger just announced a GP-100 in 10mm

Why though? Just get a .357.
10mm is inferior to the .357

I didn't realize that a .357 magnum could generate over 700 foot/pounds of muzzle energy like the full power 10mm does, but YES, they do. I just Googled it.

Among Buffalo Bore's HEAVY loads, the .357 mag has about 50 more ft/lbs energy.

Anyhow, numbers on paper are one thing. Having a wider and potentially heavier bullet with a bigger hollow cavity means something to me, above and beyond the velocity or energy numbers.

Why do they call it a "match" gun?
WHat kind of shooting matches feature big-bore revolvers with medium-length barrels and open sights?
PPC hasn't been a thing for... well... about 30 years now.

But for a hiker's companion gun in bear country, I'd take one.
For a home defense gun for a person who strongly prefers wheelguns and loves to practice with them, sure, it's great for that too.

There are some upgrades in the "match" version-- they shim the hammer and trigger, for one thing (which will cost you about $5 to do yourself). I bought one of the .44 Special GP100s, and shimmed it, ground down the hammer, did all the polishing-- got the trigger down to about 7.5 lbs DA, and it would light primers consistently. But the GP100 trigger still had an ugly hitch in it. So eventually I sent it to Ruger. Who told me it had a defective forcing cone and wasn't safe to shoot. They gave me a full refund. And thus ends my foray into Ruger revolvers-- I bought a 686 with the refund.

It was built like a tank though; I'll give it that. Except for... you know, being dangerous and all. : )

BTW, I have a complete set of springs and shims for a GP100 if anyone intends to work on theirs. One of these days I'll inventory it and put it on here cheap. Holler if interested; it might motivate me. I've got the IBOK printed out, too.
