Ruger just announced a GP-100 in 10mm

Meh, the draw of 10mm is semi full auto fire and fast reloads. In a wheel gun, I will stick with 44 and 357 for gatlin gun style full auto fire.

I honestly don't think many wheel guns have a real purpose these days. They are almost 100% for sheer enjoyment.

This is true, even handgun hunters could likely carry a more effective carbine of the same caliber at a similar weight. If I were going into grizzley country, a 300 Win Mag or 30-06 would be more comforting that a 500 S&W. However, it is hard to fish with a rifle on the belt/ back.
