Ruger Owners (LC9 specific) Beware!

Good questions guys. I shoot standard 115gr ball ammo 99% of the time and the rest is the 124 or 135gr standard pressure self-defense loads.

There's probably just as many dry fires as live fires on this gun so that's around 3-400, not as much in the last two years maybe but PLENTY when the gun was newer to get used to resetting the looo(wait for it)ooong trigger. I used snap caps for maybe 25% of that time.

*Update*

I spoke with Ruger today and they are going to send out a firing pin and a few springs, a decent gesture and really about as good as I can expect. They did offer to have the pistol shipped to them for the repair which I politely declined.

Once I get the new parts installed and tested I'm not really sure what this gun's role will be. What I can say is that it looks like a Glock 43 is on the horizon for edc duty...

I bought a LC9s Pro. Nice size, felt good in the hand, excellent trigger, accurate. But...

The magazine on the last shot would fall out of the gun. Literally, routinely drop out of the mag well. I usually caught it before it fell to the ground with my supporting hand, but damn.

I contacted Ruger. It was a known problem. They were very nice, paid shipping both ways, and turned the gun around in a little over a week. But, at that point, I'd lost confidence in it for a carry gun. I sold it, and bought a Shield 9mm.

It's a shame, it really was a sweet gun. I just can't tolerate poor build quality in a carry gun.

Ruger is always the bees knees when it comes to any issues they have for me. I know a guy that had issues with a revolver that was probly 20 years old or older and they couldn't fix it so they sent it back for him to keep as a collector piece and sent him a brand new revolver of his choice in replacement also. They have always been super polite and helpful with anything I ever needed and if I ever had a mag failure always got not 1 but 3 brand new ones sent out right away! Yeah the LC9 has never been one of my favorites cause they are inaccurate and feel cheap but they are kinda cheap price wise so you get what you pay for. But try to get Taurus to fix a gun with their lifetime warranty they offer, my buddy gave one to me for free after he had paid 60 dollars shipping each time to send it in 4 times and I sent it in 3 times and it broke again everytime. We ended up paying $420 bucks for a gun that wasint worth 120 and Taurus refused to send us out the parts or pay for shipping. We finally took all the firing parts out of it put a orange cap on the end and gave it to his nephew to play with as a toy haha. So as far as how Ruger backs up their products it's hard to complain. If you don't have the same results ask to speak with the boss man in charge and just wine a lot never had to but I'm sure it would work. Good luck with your LC9. And if you feel like something else inside is damaged and it's not something you can depend on stress that to them and they will make it right.
