RUGER PC-9 CARBINE SIGHT ISSUE

Problem : I stripped the T-10 TORX BASE SCREW ( I put white out on it to show which screw ) A friend suggested I drill the top of the screw off and then the base will pull off allowing me to remove the remaining screw shaft with a vise grip.
Question; Is this the correct way.

I'm sure Ruger will send you a new screw, just give them a call.

Might put a little penetrating oil on there a few hours before as well.

Were you removing the sight? If so, why? It probably has threadlocker on the screw.

No, thought I was adjusting it.My bad.

Dremel a slot across the top of the screw head and use a flat head screwdriver
