Russian AK Banned: How much they are worth?

At the end of the day, its only worth what price can be agreed on by the buyer and seller. I dont see an AK in stock form being worth more than 1500 unless it's a pre ban Chinese. Not taking away anything from the good vepr and saiga guns, but for 1800 you can get a RD, the best you can get.

What makes an RD the best you can get?

Simple. It's an ak built by ak people, then tuned by ak people, and shot and retuned by the same ak people. Not an ak built by gun people that sometimes shoot aks, not by an importer out for a buck, and not by some Joe blow off the street that tinkers with typewriters and wants to fiddle with one. Think of it this way, who would make you a better suit. A man who makes shirts and belts everyday, a man that makes suits for a living, or a man who couldn't find someone to make him a suit so he learned to make his own through trail and error, making him for himself and his friends until people are coming to him to make them suits?

I prefer stamped. Stamped is the original design, they are lighter weight, and according to Russian military tests the stamped receivers outlast the milled.

Stamped outlast milled? Can you provide a source to that test? I am deciding between buying a milled and stamped AK right now so that will be great info!

I’ve read the translated, paraphrased results of Russian military testing in the subject. I don’t have the info on hand, however.

It is extremely difficult to wear out an AK receiver, regardless of how it’s made. I picked up milled receiver , over 40 year old AK’s in Somalia that were still running fine.

Yeah I am thinking about getting a Vepr 23 inch barrel and turn it into a RPK. I heard from AKfile forum that some Vepr are inaccurate after rapid fire though, not sure what that is about.

I haven't had that issue at all. Only complaint i have is with the triggers and safety lever but those were easy upgrades. Had a guy at the CMP range offer me $1,400 for her but she wasn't for sale at the time.
