Best mount that I like is made by Choate. But you have to drill and tap the receiver.. I wouldn't touch a Russian though!

A Russian are you serious? Wow ruin a perfect gun.
i have a scope mount for an sks that does not alter the gun in any way. pm me and i will send you a picture. i have no need for it as i am doing the bullpup project. i will let you have it for $20 if you like it. it bolts on by replacing the top cover pin with a bolt. it look really good when installed.

If my dad were alive and asked me for advice on "sporterizing" this I'd refuse to say anything just on principle.
You wouldn't help someone that asked for help? He's going to do whatever he wants to HIS gun it doesn't matter what I do I'm just trying to help. I never asked for anyone's opinion on if he should do it or not so please keep your opinions to your self.
Hunt down one of the new import sks, the finish is ****, wood is ****, gun is great. Cerakote it and enjoy it, Bubba the crap out of the new ones, save the Russian.
I think this whole thread is a farce to get a reaction. No one in their right mind would **** up a good russian like that. Do it to a beater thats ok.
