What grips would fit on a 686? A K/L square butt?? I may be trading into one and wanted to ditch the Pachmayr grips.Thanks guys.

S&W 686 grip question?

The S&W 686 is an 'L' frame, but uses the same grips as a 'K' frame, hence: K/L frame grips. Most L frames are square butt, although some of the shorter barrel versions have the round butt, for better concealability.
As mentioned before anything labeled for a k/l frame will fit. I believe they deleted the sq butt in 96.
686's made since 1996 have round butts, but you can get round to square conversion grips if wanted.
Try the Pachmeyers before you ditch them, you may be surprised. Hoage also makes a good grip for these pistols.
