S&W 9mm Revolver is Back!

sure, but you could accomplish almost the same thing with a ~$300 revolver in 38 as well.

I tend to agree. IMO, there's no real upside, beyond 9mm ammo costing less than half of .38.
But even then, so what? Realistically, very few people are going to spend much time at the range wasting ammo through an Airweight snubbie ( and I say that as a longtime Airweight EDC'er!)

The fact that 9mm is available in a modern pistol makes this a dealbreaker.
Whoa, easy there!! Enough with the reasonable economic suggestions and spotlighting of this wheelguns antiquated real world application and limitations. Damn near forcing me to place an order and lock this thread! 😉

I'm carrying (and do carry) a 351pd, 11 ounce 22 mag revolver 99% of the time I'm at home. It's too easy not to, and I will eventually add something in a "real" caliber but no rush at the moment, there's no bears in my living room.

JekyllTidesFisher3181 JekyllTidesFisher3181 I would suggest they aren't antiquated. The things wheel guns do really well, still, are to me as follows:

Always be on you and ready to go.
Handle magnum calibers well
Not be ammunition dependent
Easier manual of arms to learn for non-gun people (albeit harder to shoot really well)

I carry my airlite at home all the time because it's easy, not because it's ideal. I'm behind locked doors and have dogs/alarms/real stuff nearby but the gun on you beats the gun in the safe in a pinch. It's also easy enough my wife (with bad hands) can shoot it without instruction or much practice. Same reason her HD gun is a henry lever rifle. it's easy and likely "good enough". Is it wizzbang tactical? Also no, but if we're at the point she needs it, the wheels have already fell pretty far off.

Hey, I wasn't trying to piss on your thread, or on revolvers, in general.
38 wheelgun are my favorite handguns, I pocket carry an Airweight Smiff every day, got a minty 45 yr old Ruger sitting next to me, and I'm currently negotiating for an old-ish Model 10, as we speak !!
Also,,I'm a longtime proponent of the 9mm round, so I'm really not a hater!
I just think this little 9mm revolver ain't the most practical idea they could come up with, especially for what stuff costs these days.
No condemnation of you or anyone that likes the concept, we're just shootin' the breeze here!!

I kinda like the idea of a auto cartridge revolver. But I just like a revolver. Look what Jerry Miculek has done with those revolvers
