S&W 9mm Revolver is Back!

Good read. Another thing. If the weapon's barrel is designed to shoot 38/357, the bullets will tumble shooting 9mm/380. See 38/357 is .357. 9mm/380 is .355 dia.
Debatable...

From Shooting Times:

The bottom line from slugging 9mm pistol and .38/.357 revolver barrels is that there was no difference in groove diameter other than the slightly undersize Colts.

I've owned a Blackhawk with the dual cylinders. That is exactly what it did. I also have a cartridge conversion revolver. It was 36cal BP. It's 38s&w now. Same results as well

It's much like my EDC except heavier and holds -1. This superior to a 9mm pistol for civilian use. The high capacity pistol only surpasses it after you get it drawn free and clear and fire more than 5 rounds, which is likely to not be part of the fight.

I get making it out of the heavier frame material because hot 9mm will get to be a handful. Hot .32 or .38 is as much as I want to fire a box of. If it were cheaper it'd be worth getting because you'd eventually realize a savings to pay for it by buying 9mm over .32 or .38.

One point no one has brought up is carring backup loaded moon Clips either 5 or 7 rounds. It like carring a golf ball in your pocket. That is bendable. It's Not excatly comfortable sometimes. Way To many cons for me to daily carry it . The back upMoonclips is the main reason along with limited rounds available.
The 986 is a joy to plink with at the range with a dot on it.
No hate on the revolver in a survival situation a 9mm would be easier to find versus 38/357 so why not just carry a 9mm with a better capacity?

I used to keep a Ruger LCR 9mm around as a backup to whatever semi-auto (in 9mm) I was carrying. The thought was that if the semi hung up at least I could use the ammo from it in the LCR.

Then I realized that good quality semis just don't hang up, and I was carrying it around for no real reason, so I sold it off.

Yea speed loaders if you will isn't as easy to carry as a mag. But that said, I still use a 357 at the farm. First round is a shot shell. And I have needed to use a couple times. The shot shell won't cycle an auto action. You would have to do that manually. The revolver just works. And if you need to bypass the shell to a bullet, just rotate the cylinder one round. I've only had one breakage on a revolver. The handspring broke. Wouldn't turn cylinder. But that pistol saw a lot and I mean a lot of abuse before I got it. Bought it from the original owner, family member. That J frame has been in the family @ 45yrs. Wife has it now

Yeah, that's not exactly true. While accuracy of 9mm is not going to be as good as .357.38, mine has proven to be pretty darn close with some 9mm brands.

I think the inaccuracies are often more attributed to the distance between the bullet and forcing cone. I can shoot .380, but it's by far the least accurate.

That's a fair point, but again, how many over the years carried a J-frame with speed loaders? I do agree, they feel like a golf ball in the pocket though (which I don't care for). I do have some smaller belt pouches that work well when I'm less concerned about concealed carry.

As mentioned, it's just an "option" for some revolvers that can shoot 9mm, .38 or .357. I also find that some bulk or surplus 9mm ammo I have doesn't cycle well in some of my autos, but zero issues in a wheel gun. Add the fact that shotshells are perfect for wheel guns as well.
