Satuday Night Confessions: AR vs AK

I have shot a few. I have nothing against the guns. I am just horsing around here.
I can dig it. And I will admit that back in 14 when I had one of those cheap (AKA realistically priced) WASR rifles I wound up changing the wood stock for the dreaded Crapco side folder. Mainly because I found it on sale at a local shop and when I shot the WASR with that midget LOP ( 9" give or take) stock I felt like I had been punched in my right jaw after less than a mag.

I've had a bunch of AK's over the years. Really unimpressed by the Arsenals I had. WASR seems about right to me for what the platform is. Only one I've actually liked is a Galil Ace Gen 2.

If you want to take advantage of a proper AK shooting experience, a Chinese, Bulgarian or Hungarian AKM will provide outstanding performance. Russian is the next step up, ie: SGL, Saiga conversion, etc. Finally, a Gen 1 Galil Ace X39 will offer the best performance. Century imported WASR's are hit or miss in quality, typically junk. They are generally assembled using various buckets of surplus parts and if you are lucky, you may find one without a canted sight. Here is one of my suppressed Gen 1 Galil ACE SBR's, chambered in 7.62x39, finished in Battle Worn Bronze.
