Bought a used one today for less than a $100. Just gonna use as another plinker. How had yours done next to a 10/22 marlin 60 rem 795 or mossy 702. Give me your comparison.

I have a model 64 with the bull barrel and thumb hole stock. Really nice shooter and mine has a great feel to it. I have an old Marlin 60 that I also shoot and there is a difference. A couple of things to watch out for, don't push up on the mag when you shoot it or you will tear up the top rear guides on it. Also, take a tiny file and hit the rear of the mag to remove any extra material inside the mag. Only other issue that I have had with my Savage is the #$%^ flippers have all the 22lr and can't seem to get enough to go shoot like I want.

Make sure that if you get extra mags, they are marked for the model 64 and not the model 93. I think it is part # 30005 and they run about $20 each.

i also prefer the 64, and i had to polish the insides of all magazines especially if filling with 10 rounds.

so far no issues in over 450 rounds, and i want a mag release that one can operate without looking for.
