I was wanting to change the length of a SBR that has already been tax stamped. Whats the best way to notify the ATF that I have changed my weapon and shortened the oal of it? I looked on their website and couldn’t find any info on this topic. Thanks for any info.

Correct. If you get checked, being able to recreate the configuration on the stamp is sufficient. Atleast that's my understanding.
I sent ATF a message today and they responded and said just a simple signed email sent to them with my new configuration and all details from my form 1 would get my weapon updated. I’d hate to get checked and not be able to replicate my original configuration. I appreciate all the information.

If the SBR was tax stamped and its overall length changed, contact the ATF NFA branch, a licensed Class 3 dealer, or a firearms attorney to find out if any paperwork or other steps are needed to stay compliant.
