Got frustrated with a project I was working on so I decided to take a break from it and start another one. I picked up this pre-1960s JC Higgins pump shotgun, I had an existing beater so we're going to take this one back to its former Beauty. It is definitely going to go for sale my question about the sale is should I restore it like the original, or make a home defense? It has a 28 inch barrel currently.

After stripping off the bluing and steel wooling the rust, the barrel is attached to the receiver and removing it as a pain in the butt, so I decided I was going to do a traditional Brown and then top it off with an old-timey rust Bluing. The process takes a while so this baby is going to sit for a few days. One of the things I really dig is the beautiful Plum color you get from the traditional Browning, typically done on muzzleloaders but it adds a deepness to the final finish. Your thoughts on what should be done and what do you think the market is more for a home defense or more for a traditional old timey Sears?

Have ask a couple questions first. What is the choke, guessing at 28 inch modified? Guessing also 12 gauge?
My view for what it is worth.....Dove season is right around the corner....leave it as a hunting gun. Also, if I was
in the market and price was right, would prefer hunting gun and make it home defense myself to suit my personal needs.
Have fun with the project either way.
