That's about right as I remember. I was looking at this when they first came out. WIN. is a whole lot easier to find and probably a better price. The MX would be an oddball. This day in time, not a good idea
Yes it’s definitely hard to find. I buy it every time I see it so I have a decent amount.

If you want a reliable feeding 308 Winchester cartridge to work in a tubular feed magazine lever gun you're gonna need to give it a little bit of a rim ...so that's why the 308 Marlin express was invented. It shoots the same diameter length & weight bullets at the same velocities as the 308 Winchester.
Only a softer tip on the end --not an exposed metal tip nor a very hard plastic tip that might dent the primer of the cartridge in front of it as they slide in the gun's tubular magazine.

The day when you can order from any number of online vendors and have any ammo shipped to your door?

I know this thread is about what gun you will use, not what gun you'd like to own for whitetail deer hunting, but I still think my ideal rifle for deer -- for shots within 250 yards --would be a pump action rifle.

I prefer them strongly over lever actions, so a Remington 7600 for me.

One of those in .308 with a quality 2X -8X scope would be ideal for me.

Pic and information, huh? Well it'll be this one, again. Has killed more than 90% of my deer the past nearly decade now I think, in one configuration or another.

Windham Weaponry Lower, Aero Upper and Quantum Handguard, 10.25" Barrett .300 BLK barrel, Recessed Sandman X, Razor LH 1.5-8x and Barnes 110g Tac-TX.

I kinda like the oddball stuff anyways. Just wish I could find a 338MX as well.
