If I go, I think i might take this. Marlin .35I bought a couple really nice rifles to hunt with along the way just to have somethin purdy to look at while hunting. Thing is if you're really hunting, the weapon is just a tool. There isn't time to just look at your weaponI am somewhat jealous of those that hunt with beautiful wood and blued firearms. So classic and nostalgic. I have just become so AR and Chassis familiar that legacy rifles feel extremely awkward to me now.
I hope y'all have a great timeThis year my daughter (8) and I will be running the Ruger American with a Shaw 22 Creedmoor barrel. The ammo is handloaded 57HHT @4015fps. I might put the 6.5 Creedmoor barrel back on later in the year but we’ll see.
Why would you not load the 80-90 grain pills for this use case? Having run 58 grains in a .243 at those velocities...it was not an effective deer round, at all. This year my daughter (8) and I will be running the Ruger American with a Shaw 22 Creedmoor barrel. Copper bullets need speed and the 57hht should work fine. The 58gr in a 243 were probably a vmax and those lack penetration. Based off the 3 deer I shot last year with a 22arc, the 57gr should work fine. Why would you not load the 80-90 grain pills for this use case?
