Share a pic and information of your Whitetail Hunting Rifle for 2025...

Copper bullets need speed and the 57hht should work fine. The 58gr in a 243 were probably a vmax and those lack penetration. Based off the 3 deer I shot last year with a 22arc, the 57gr should work fine.
You are correct that they were Vmax, however the issue was actually over penetration, no expansion. I can narrow down the lost whitetail deer category from strangers, friends and personally into a single category: Bullets less than 80 grains (regardless of caliber)

That’s interesting, I’d heard a lot of good things about the Barnes ttsx, tsx and hammers in the 22-250 and 22 Creedmoor for deer. I guess I’ll see how it goes and let you know.

I personally wouldn't use a 22 for deer. Shot placement is paramount. I know there are plenty that do. Heck, some use a 17HMR for hogs. Wouldn't be my first choice. I know you're just trying to get your daughter involved.

I can understand that. Until a couple years ago I felt the same way about centerfire 22s. Over the last couple years I’ve tried several cartridges with bullets I thought would work best. So far I’ve seen little difference on tissue between the 6.5 and the 22arc with proper bullets/placement. The 22 creed seems like a better option since I’m running copper this year. If it doesn’t work out, it takes 10min to put the 6.5 barrel on and zero.

Good rainy day Sunday to prop your feet up and spend some time in the thread below.
If you read with an open mind..,or just believe your eyes looking at the pictures…you might gain a new appreciation for what the right .22 centerfire bullet can do on large game.
I know I did. And truthfully I thought they were full of **** when I started reading lol…

I am somewhat jealous of those that hunt with beautiful wood and blued firearms. So classic and nostalgic. I have just become so AR and Chassis familiar that legacy rifles feel extremely awkward to me now.
Wasn’t a wood stocked Ruger #1 in your Arsenal recently?

Got a doe yesterday evening and I think it was overkill. Ran 20’ and piled up, the damage was devastating for any bullet.
