(long version)
I purchased a Warthog sharpener at the turkey-rama a few months ago. Oh my goodness its idiot proof even I can use it. When I came home and tried it I sold my Ken Onion. My question is I called and talked to their guy and their customer service is amazing. The guy I talked to talked to me like we were sitting on a tailgate and had been friends for years. I think that is why I failed to take notes. I went home and did what he said and I got hair popping results. I cant remember which angles I used.
I am sharpening my EDC pocket knives. I carry either a Gerber or Benchmade and always a Sodbuster JR. There are several settings I think 10-30 degree in 5 degree increments. I know it was one angle with the diamond stones and then go to another angle and use the ceramic stones. The ceramic gives it the micro bevel. I then stropped with a piece of leather I have stapled to a board.

(short version)
What angle should I sharpen to and which angle should I hone my pocket knife?

I am thinking I am going to sharpen at 15 with the diamond and then hit it with 20 on the ceramic then strop

I use 20 for my everyday stuff and kitchen knives and 17 for my filet knives.
Do you do a micro bevel? Im thinking 20 will do what I need for my pocket knives and remain durable. If Im honest I just like to be able to shave the hair on my arm because my son thinks its cool.

Which diamond stones are you using? I have all except for ceramic, need to get that. I use 20deg for everything.
Only thing I don’t like is it makes a mark on the knife side that’s against the rail. Thinking about putting a thin felt on there.

Just the 325 diamond that came with the kit. We bought the ceramic hones that were the add ons

No micro bevel. Just the 20 degree. It’s plenty sharp for everything I do and not fine enough that it wears down quickly.

My Dad was a barber and he taught me how to sharpen on a stone. All I have ever used and has served me well. Was gifted a motor driven sharpener and I have used it before but always go back to the stone
I’ve tried several things and the warthog is easy enough I can do it. That said I think using it has taught me a lot and one day I’m going to sit down with my grandfather father’s stone and put an edge on my old timer just like he did. The stone is literally concave from years of sharpening
