Shooting steel targets

I picked up my first steel targets today. I'm going to do some reading about it before I take them out, but any words from experience would be greatly appreciated. I have .22, .22 mag, 9mm , .45, .308, 5.56 calibers I could possibly use. 6" and 8" plates.

Don't shoot them when they are swinging back towards you. Trust me on this.

About 15 yards !
.44 Magnum, and hurt like he!! !

I found the fragment and it was a very small part of the bullet, or I might have gone to ER !

It just bled a little.

I was 25 yards away and caught a piece of 44 magnum shrap in the face.
