Shot the Remington 700 AAC and the Savage FCP-K today.

I've never heard that Remington was hammer forging. Where did you hear that? Plenty of reputable companies have great success with accurate barrels using hammer forging-Steyr, FN, HK, CZ- I mean the list is pretty big.

Hammer forging vs a real rifling process. Tikka and savage are the only mass produced rifles that button rifle with any aftermarket support. Remington screwed the pooch by using hammer forging.

BS! Big Green has made PLENTY of VERY ACCURATE Barrels via Hammer Forging, as have a number of other Makers--FWIW, I know a custom Barrel Maker who will tell you if it's not Cut-Rifled, it ain't worth ****--I don't believe THAT, either...YMMV....mikey357

all I know is I have a new out of the box Savage rifle that is shooting 1/2 MOA with factory ammo. Looking around the internet it doesn't seem like that is very uncommon for Savage rifles. On the other hand, I have never owned a Remington that would shoot 1/2 MOA out of the box, nor have I read many stories of this happening.

my friend Karen, on my rifle, my savage 112 in .223 which sits in the hall closet and had been there for 2 years with my Japanese tasco.... just can't make these cheap rifles shoot tighter than less than a quarter inch though...

yep,,, this is the pre accu trigger jobber, adjustable however I think although I've never dicked with it....

I get assaulted all the time how it's my one rifle with the cheap stock and weaver mounts and the trashco stock.... but, I won't be talked into having it bedded at this time,,, however I did find a pretty sexy stock at boyds for only a hundred bucks....

but, I'm keeping my trashco and cheesy mounts..

Buy a 5R

Having owned and shot both rifles in .308, I still have the Remington and don't have the Savage anymore.

My 700 shoots sub 1/2 moa out of the box at 550 yards. The Savage shot fine, but very limited support for aftermarket products.
