Shotgun recommendations for teen girl?

My granddaughter has expressed interest in shooting 4-H shotgun. I have owned shotguns (used for turkeys and squirrels) but have no experience in sporting clays, trap or skeet. I'm thinking an autoloader in 20 gauge. What would you ODT fountains of wisdom suggest? I would prefer to keep it under $600 if possible.

I believe your choice of a semi-auto in 20 gauge is as close to perfect as you can get. She should be able to handle the recoil from that platform and can always graduate to the 12 later on if she decides to stay in the program. Many of the middle school kids in our program started with the 20 gauge, but moved on up to the 12 because of the greater number of shot in each shell. What barrel length? Fixed or changeable choke? BTW she's 15 yrs old and been shooting 22 rimfires since she was 6. She handles my AR, sks and her Ruger American .243 very well.
