I am loading the new barnes 110 gn 300AAC bullets to their recipe. Their OAL places my crimp into one of the grooves on the bullet. It leaves the crimp much more visible than normal. Looks more like a rolled crimp than a taper crimp. Should I adjust the OAL? Should you be able to see the crimp on the bullet if it has been pulled?

If your crimping on the cannelure , the crimp is more noticable,, if your rifle shoot that load good i wouldnt adjust anything

What oal are you using? Normally u can see the crimp but it shouldn't be very noticeable depending on the bullet and oal your using

Bullet Weight: 110 gr Case Trim Length: 1.358 " S.D. 0.166
Bullet Style: TAC-TX Primer: Federal 205 B.C. 0.289
COAL: 2.250 " Barrel Length: 16 "
Case: Remington Twist Rate: 1:8 "

I forget what you call the grooves in a bullet, but this OAL has the Lee Taper Crimp pressing the case right into thr groove.

If it has a cannurle I dont worry about crimping, hell only thing that gets a "crimp" is 9mm and that is just to straighten the case back out from where it was flared. I dont worry about crimping rifle rounds especially if they have cannurling
