SHTF trade question

The problem with cheap guns as trade fodder is that most preppers don't want cheap guns. Novices who aren't preppers or gun experts are unlikely to have any supplies you would want to obtain from them by trade.

Still, I think we should all have a few extra guns we could part with. Maybe they could be sold or traded, or just loaned to neighbors and friends to better share the burden of common defense of your little group or neighborhood.

Here's an idea for a cheap item to trade. A hand crank flashlight that does not use batteries. They're lightweight plastic --easy to store easy to carry.
you might pay only five bucks apiece for them now and they could be worth three times or five times that later .

I too have a large number of lighters around the house, but had not considered them a trade item. Does anyone have a link to the article your talking about? I have not read that one yet.
I have several torch heads that screw onto a 1lb LP bottle. I use them to light my outside wood boiler as well as brush piles. Far easier to light a fire that a typical bic.

Jeez sorry, no link and I don't recall where I read it....

Been reading William Forstchen's sequel to One Second After. One Year After was recently published and my take away is along with every other prep, be sure to boost your first aid supplies. Finger cuts and even scrapes can cause serious issues if untreated. It's easy to take for granite the benefits of peroxide, antibacterial ointments, and bandages. Just a thought..

Absolutely - and keep your tetanus shot up to date!
It's good for 10 years now, but the Doc will be ok with every 5, that's cheap insurance.
I don't want to die because a little scratch got infected ....

I hadn't heard about the sequel.... gotta get it asap. I loved the original, made teenagers read it.
There's a third book due out in January 2017 entitled the "The Final Day". You can read a preview chapter at the back of "One Year After" in both Kindle and book formats. For many Amazon books, if you buy the book first, they often give a generous discount on the Kindle version which I read on my Android phone.
