I have not owned one, but I have shot one of the new models and want one. Just don't have the money to trade up from AR right now.

Mine has no wobble.. very tight.
After two friends, one of which who teaches for Suarez Int., told me how great a platform the 556R was I started researching them to the point that I felt like it was worth trying.
Glad I did. I've been very impressed with it. It is well on the way of being my main "Go-to" rifle.
It may not be the "be-all, end-all" rifle but it does a pretty good job of addressing the deficiencies of both the AR & AK platforms... at least for me.
Compared to AK's:
It is very reliable.
It is more ergonomic than an AK but uses most standard AK mags.
It has a stable rail mount for an optic in a traditional location that is fast & instinctive to find.
It has less perceived recoil
It is apparently more accurate... at least than stamped receiver AK versions.
Compared to AR's:
It has a more powerful round that is more affordable to shoot as well as readily available (vs. .223 but especially when compared to .300 B/O.)
It uses a piston operating system which is preferable to gas impingement
It has a side folding stock & folds down to only 26".
There are a few negatives (having no backup sights is ridiculous) but overall it does a good job of combining the two platforms.
as far as expensive, there are certainly some great AK options in the 1100-1300 range.Cons: heavy, expensive, plastic handguards are crap, folding stock was mediocre .

and you didn't insert anything in to stop the slop? I touch every 556 I can get my hands on to test the slop, they are all loose. 1 time I felt a very tight 1, which is odd, sure enuff I opened it and the dealer inserted a rubber washer to close the slop. it doesn't affect functionality of the gun. I just don't like loose fitting guns. I test AR15s for the same thing before buying.
