I had never heard of one before, but one of my favorites is the Sig P220. The P227 is supposed to be a 10 shot version of the P220. Any one have experience with the P227? Is the build quality similar to a P220? My greatest reluctance is that I would have to stock another type of magazine!!

If you already like the sig 220/226 models you'll be right at home with the 227. It's basically the width as a 226 holding 10 rounds flush fit or 14 rounds with the extended mags plus they'll fit your current holsters. After I shot my first one I dumped all my 220's and got 227's. The mags aren't that hard to find, I've picked up several here. The only way sig can improve it is to put the 10mm on the double stack frame.

Many thanks, there is one for $700 in Savannah Armslist. It has two 10rd mags and one 14rd. ad says test fired only and looks just like the lower one in the photo. Does this sound reasonable? Haven't seen one on the forum yet.

Yes: and when I checked to call the seller, the post was gone. I may have tipped my hand to another ODT member. Snooze-you lose

Regardless, Thanks

Some have had good experiences on arms list, I myself have not. You might of saved yourself a let down. You'll find what your looking for I'm sure.

Fantastic gun. Magazines cost too damn much and are proprietary. Other than that it's awesome. Sold my P227 SAS Gen and been kicking myself for it ever since.

I love my P227 Carry SAS Gen2. Fit and finish are just as good as any of the P220s I have had. Mags are expensive and it carries (size and weight) the same as the M11-A1 I got rid of. I must confess due to the width of the short double stack magazine the pistol is not a joy to practice/shoot one handed. I am not sure why it isn't more popular tho. Maybe because a standard 220 is 8+1 and the 227 being 10+1 is not that much more? Oh, and good luck finding any wood grips...

If you have a 220 already don't bother. Thats a decent price at 700 but you're not gaining anything from the extra 2 rounds other than needing to find different mags
