Hello. Is it a known common problem to get a Sightmark Photon to "zero" and stay there? It seems that there is not enough adjustment in elevation to zero it? Also, seems that windage might drift (even on a .22 LR). The Photon in discussion has been tried on 2 different platforms, with same results. Any advice or feed back would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don’t mean to be a jerk when I say this, but it’s probably bc it’s sightmark. If you confirmed it on two rifles, it most likely has a wandering zero issue. I am not familiar with their internals. It could also be what the mounting system is on it coming lose.
One platform is a 10-22, so recoil would not be causing mounting system to shift. And it has done it after only a few shots. Thanks.

Wandering zero. Place known good optic on same gun. Does it wander? If yes. Gun issue or mount issue. If no, optic issue.
Zero is like 1/2 MOA with another scope on the 10-22, and around 1 1/4 MOA on the other platform, so I think the rifle is ruled out as the problem. Everyone seems to be verifying my opinion. Thank you.
Sightmark no bueno
I am beginning to agree with your opinion on this. Thanks.

On certain rifles you need to shim it. Use pieces of a beer can, bike inner tube, etc. You should be able to zero it then.
Good advice. I had not thought of that. I was of the opinion that even a cheap scope should be okay for armadillos at 50 yards or less, on a .22LR. It is sure worth trying shims. Thank you.
