Silencer Buying Facts from SemperFi Arms

Probably a dumb question and covered somewhere else, but one I'm having trouble locating the answer to:

I've been window shopping online for a 5.56 suppressor and while I know that, even with subsonic loads, I'm never going to get the "movie typewriter"quiet with this round, is there a suppressor available that would make this round hearing safe without protection? I've seen plenty of manufacturer claims in the -28 to 32dB range, but realistically is this possible with a rifle round? And if so, where would be a good NFA dealer in the Cumming/Dawsonville/Dahlonega area to get to do the shipping and paperwork if I do order online from one of these manufacturers? Ideally there'd be a range or dealer somewhere within a couple hours drive I could go and actually test fire rounds before I order but there aren't a lot of people with $1000's of inventory sitting they're willing to let you test drive.

With a trust, you actually are not technically the owner. The property is owned by the trust and you are the Trustee and beneficiary of the trust. It is pretty much a legal fiction, but it can lead to some mistakes if you don't do it right.

A Willmaker trust or homemade trust will work unless you just really mess it up. However, it does not address some issues that are specific to a trust set up for the purpose of holding NFA items, as that is not what it is set up to do.

And yes, full disclosure, I do gun trusts.

If you are shooting subsonic .223, I am pretty sure it would not cycle the action. However, a 5.56 can is still worth it to me for the huge reduction in noise. You can shoot it outdoors without ear protection, but I don't know if it is truly "hearing safe". I have put a good number of rounds through my Huntertown Arms Kestrel with no protection and no problem.

If you get a servicable can, you can shoot .22 through it too, assuming the threading is correct.

Subsonic 223 are 22s

Subsonic 223 are 22s

I was imagining a .223 case loaded down to subsonic levels. I don't think there is anything out there like that. You could probably load your own, but it would likely be a single shot affair and pretty pointless.

A .22 AR upper is lots of fun. Just make sure you use subsonic ammo. Pretty much any of the nicer (pricier) .22 ammo will be subsonic. Match shooters generally only shoot subsonic.
