Last night's upgrade was about moving the site's database to a more powerful server, and adding space for storing backups that are ever-growing in size. That went reasonably smoothly, but while testing performance after the upgrade I found the site under heavy attack from brute force login attacks. Literally hundreds of attempts per second from computers all over the world. Trying to get that cleaned up, but it's like whack-a-mole.
Separately, we're trying some new software to remove old ad images, and I don't think that software is running correctly, so we're following up on that.
The site's search indexes also have to be rebuilt after the database server migration, so that's part of the sluggishness.
