I'm guessing you have a nickel model 19 with a 4" barrel.....you might measure your 6" revolvers like others measure their..never mind.

Well, we all know the distance between points
A and B is seven inches.
 
I'll let the experts handle this. I am not an expert (by any stretch of the imagination).

One thing that strikes me as odd, I bought a brand new 4 inch 686 in 1989, and I just now compared a side view of it against the pic in this thread. Pic at the start of this thread looks more like a 4" barrel instead of 6".
it's a 4". Bill's wife measured it...went off his "six inches."
