When I go to the farm, I have a 3 series Smith 357. The first shot is a 38 shot shell. Around home, I do the same thing. I also keep a 410 around too. Killed them with a shovel as well

I've always just used a hoe. Chopped many a head of at the farm.

I use a Heritage .22 with CCI bird shot. At 1st I was using my .38 with CCI bird shot, but for some reason, the plastic part of the unfired shells that remained in the cylinder would move forward and would jam up, and I couldn't turn the cylinder for the next shot without removing the other shells and pushing the plastic back into the brass. Maybe it was just that card of shells, but I stopped using the .38 for that reason. The .22 works well enough anyway.

bought a smith 351PD partially for that. 7 rounds 22 mag, shoots shot shell nicely.

I’ve used a shovel at times, but it was like using a dull knife. Maybe I’m just talking myself into “needing” an NAA.

It actually does a good job at fawkin up snakes.
