Snake Backup Pistol

6 pages in looks like time for my .02,

So my main thing with this is snakes don’t run or charge when you find them unless your already on top of them and then it’s a little late. If you can’t combine your carry system just go back to the house for the tool you need and return to where the snake is.
But if snake defense is of great concern or just a reason to buy an NAA I won’t stand in your way.
But as another member said I have dispatched dangerous snakes with shovels / picks, sling blades heck one time I killed two copper heads with a piece of PVC pipe. I’ve been handling situations like this since I was maybe 10 yrs old it’s not like you’re fending off a bear or large cat. frankly I think shooting them is a waste of ammo.

You leave said snake to go get a tool, that snake will be gone. I'd rather kill it and know it's gone

Thanks for not standing in my way :-), but I think what you said is right on. Sometimes, though, that snake is just determined to stay in exactly the wrong place where he's a problem. The rest can go on their way, and usually do. BTW, I've ordered the .22, so I'll never see another snake for the rest of my life. And that's OK.

A walking stick is very effective on snakes. If you need a pistol get a Heritage Bar Keep with the 1 or 2 inch barrel.Better than a NAA and holds 6 rounds
my Dad always carried a hickory cane when in the woods mushroom hunting in the spring to dispatch any pesky snakes.
