Behind the times or not...not everyone has time to hunt for reloading supplies (and the $1000's upfront cost that cones with that) or the time to actually sit down to reload. Infact, I crunched the numbers when I was getting ready to invest in reloading my 6.5cm...just for me to START saving money, I'd have to go through over 2000 rounds.
Also, I currently don't have room for a good reloading area.
Hey woah now people...lol
No need to be hostile, but I'm simply asking if you had a "set amount" of ammo that you just wouldn't use, ever, until it's stupidly needed, how much would you recommend (for your needs of course)
I'm not talking about enough rounds for training/plinking/or just general shoot out fun.
I do like the comment on bartering in tuff times, but as said...how low will you go until you wouldn't barter off ammo anymore?
And there are different scenarios...natural disasters, bugging out, digging in etc...I was just curious of people's real thoughts.
I didn't think my question fir discussion was that difficult ;(....
THIS! thank you for actually answering my discussion properly. Though I know numbers differ, but I do like the acknowledgement of training and to plan ahead to have enough to do so.Don't barter things that can be returned to you at several thousand feet per second.
In a perfect world I would like 5k rds for each mbr, 2k rds side arm, 1k rounds long range, 10k rds of 22. That would be my stock of useful ammo I would not dip below. It is not training or plinking ammo. I would then assess how many of each rounds per week I would like to shoot to maintain proficiency (yes, marksmanship is a perishable skill), add 10%, purchase that and then get on a regular ammo purchase schedule to maintain that training stock. In minecraft.
How much ammo would you say would be "necessary" for SHTF scenario
... This is the untouched virgins kept locked away from anyone's chambers until the perfect time.
I was thinking something like
Bolt guns-300 ea
Semi rifles-1200 ea
Full size pistols-300 ea
Carry pistols-200 ea
Shotguns-500 ea
I'd like to see what some of you have come up with, and reasons why.![]()
Alright fellow ODT junkies. I have a semi serious question.
I know there's a world of opinions out there, just like butt holes, everyone's got one.
How much ammo would you say would be "necessary" for SHTF scenario (doesn't matter which version of SHTF)
I know some may yell "YouR GonnA NeEd 5 billioN MILLION" crap...as stated, semi serious.
Also this is "Stored AMMO" for rainy day, not including fun plinking or deer camp days. This is the untouched virgins kept locked away from anyone's chambers until the perfect time.
