So, I guess showing respect for the court has gone to hell in a handbasket

People are not changing their behavior with the ridiculous fines either, or the courts wouldn't be in business. I simply think the fines are too high, in many cases a speeding fine is a week or two of pay for some poor bloke. I don't speed or drive drunk either, but DUI fines and penalties are out of control also. Do you know, that a dui conviction is the only conviction in the penal state of GA that you can not have expunged? From the mandatory bonds to the mandatory jail time at arrest are wrong and unconstitutional. Punishment even before being convicted if you even are. Bond is to guarantee your appearance in court, not punish you to the max for an accusation. The "presumption of impairment" is nuts, but makes it easy on a prosecutor.
It does help, but when gass prices go above $3 a gallon made the biggest difference. God help us if Obama figured that out.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.”

Ok we are now arguing with fiction stories...
Given the OPs history and comments on these boards around similar subjects, I'm just impressed he wore a suit to court. Since he runs the same roads as my family, I'm still hoping he slows the hell down.

Why would anyone bother showing respect in a venue that has been perverted to extract money from the citizenry at every turn for the benefit of the venue (court), its admin (the gov), and its collaborators (all of justice system)

Id show respect if i thought id get it in return. Dont get me wrong, if i have to go to court i would dress up, but only because i myself am dignified. As far as respect.......naw, all out of it

So now you can do it again! Next time though don't complain when the state does find out, you get points, and your insurance goes up. That's only fair.:)

Naw, I always negotiate my way out. Unless you have a high stakes traffic violation (DUI, reckless driving, 30 over, etc.), there's no point in hiring a traffic attorney. All they do is negotiate on your behalf, which you can do yourself. I've negotiated stop sign tickets, speeding tickets, etc. and they always cave if you say "I'll enter a guilty plea, contingent upon..." Or if you threaten to get an attorney, they'll loosen up and negotiate. It's the money they care about, not the actual crime. All these years and I still have yet to burn a no-lo plea. I told my dad I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing, and if worst comes to worst I'll burn the no-lo. So I still have at least one out before any traffic charges will ever catch up with my license or insurance.

Remember the couple of years that Gwinnett couldn't write radar/laser speeding tickets, due to a tiff with 911-tax income sharing with Norcross?

Now... do you remember the rash of deaths attributed to the out-of-control speeding traffic in Gwinnett? Me neither.

If that doesn't make the situation crystal-clear, what could?
