So its saturday night...whats your favorite bourbon/whiskey!

You young fellas seem to know alot about firearms, playstation, tacos and computers, but you don't know squat about drinkin'. When I briefly lived in Louisiana, they called all soda pop a "coke". If you wanted an orange soda, you asked for an orange coke. When someone mentions the word "clip" on ODT, he's immediately corrected because everyone knows it's a "magazine". Okay, listen up if you want to have a conversation with someone other than another ODT member about alcohol. Bourbon is not a generic term for all liquors.
1. Bourbon is only made in Kentucky.
2.Canadian Club and Crown Royal are blended whiskey sometimes called "Rye" You buy either one of these because you don't like the taste and can drown it out with coke or for the pretty purple bag to show your girlfriend. Save your money and buy the cheap s... because you can't tell the difference anyway and neither can she.
3. Scotch is refered to as whiskey overseas. An acquired taste. Be careful what you ask for with your foreign friends. It's all whiskey to them and if you get a whiskey and coke from them, first of all they'll look at you like the amateur that you are and secondly, you'll have a hard time gagging it down so as not to offend your friend. Once again, save your money and buy the cheap s... because you can't tell the difference. Single malts are for serious drinkers and rich guys who want to impress their girlfriends.
4. Sour Mash, my favorite. Made in Tennessee and often confused for bourbon. George Dickel works for me but Jack Daniels got me started.
5. You guys seem to be drinking just for the buzz but serious drinkers spend the extra bucks for the taste and don't mix it with anything, even water. So if you're throwing down with your pals, go cheap, leave your keys with the designated driver and prepare to be the most interesting man in the world.

The title of the post says bourbon/whiskey...I don't see where anyone was making bourbon or whiskey a generic term.

I have yet to try jeffersons....isnt that like a irish whiskey?

If you mean is Jeffersons a blended product, yes. Does it share any other characteristics with Irish whiskeys, I can't say. I don't drink them. I think, and others can correct me, that Irish whiskey is generally made from barley. Bourbons, not so much. Corn predominantly, rye and Pappy van Winkle uses wheat for their mash. I sip mine straight and I find Jefferson's to be a bit sweeter with less "burn" on the way down. Some elitists find that a flaw - I call it smoooooth! YMMV.

My point that I wanted to make was if you don't drink, don't start. Save yourself a lot of headaches, heartaches and cash. Some can handle it better than others but there is nothing good that can be gained from drinking. It's a horrible habit. Stick with what you know and don't even play around with it.

Jack Daniels Honey Bourbon and coke is a potent, sweet satisfying mix...but many try and act like its no good cuz too sweet. just add more bourbon and less coke!
