So who all rides motorcycles?????

Lol, I don't ride for fuel efficiency. (Having said that even the worst mog on a bike has been better than the best of any car I've owned) I'm in the market for a classic convertible as well.
Two completely different experiences. IYKYK.
It is. I said I was very practical when it came to bikes. Back in the day I couldn't afford a car that had the performance of a bike. And the bike was a fraction of the cost

Correct. But I did own a couple of convertibles over the years. Pretty much same experience, I'd imagine.
(Other than not having to be concerned about the auto falling over at a stop light.)
Don't for get that bumble bee flying up your shorts either.......

Cost a lot to do wheelies in a 4 wheeler lol. Dirt Drags and all that would be off limits too. Whatever floats Folk’s boats though. Reminds me of when my 5yr old would cry every time she didn’t get to ride with me. She’s riding her own bikes now.

It's not even close. The major difference in a Wing and other bikes is long distance comfort. Their maneuverability and ability to keep up with the vast majority of bikes, and surpass most all cruisers, defies appearance. At least previous appearance. If the current generation was the first time if had been introduced, no one would know how to classify it. Closer to classic sport tourers now.

My 2012 ultra recently turned over 50k miles. I’m looking into doing some work this winter doing a set of cam chain tensioners, lifters, cam bearings, and evaluate the cam plate and oil pump. As long as the stock cams are good I will throw them back in. I like the performance I have and it has ran excellent. I’ve rode just shy of 38k miles in just under 3 years. It’s looking like it will be pushing 90k in 3 more years.
I have about 85k on my 2006 Ultra. I did cams/cam plate/oil pump and bearings this time last year at 75k. Outside of the spring powered tensioners being shot, everything else was in fine shape. I kept the stock lifters because they showed virtually no wear.

New wings are $30k. Absurd, but the tech has exploded.
Used bikes are still a great deal for your entertainment/therapy dollar.

Gear driven cams are great, but you'll want to measure the crank run out before you order them. There is a pretty tight tolerance. Don't forget you'll need to budget for a tuner either way.

Since you've already got hydraulic tensioners, I wouldn't spend the extra money going to gear driven. If you were converting from spring to gear, its not that much of a difference in cost since you'd have to swap your cam plate anyway.

I think this is what I looked at ? Rebel Customs (Cartersville) had a display set up for comparison; there was no comparison imo . I noticed S&S offers a better tensioner than the factory set up now as well. Idk for sure what the best setup is now because I’ve done more looking and polishing than riding this past year. But yea, the Owner of the shop had his old twin cam geared and he puts a lot of miles on his?View attachment 9782902View attachment 9782903
I had a 2000 super glide that ran a gear drive cam system and a carb. It run like you wouldn’t believe!

The pushrod angle of a twin cam is way less stressful than earlier harleys. I don’t see why M8s don’t have a lot of lifter failures because there’s twice as much stress on them with the extra valve springs.
