That AR pistols are costing a ass ton more if not double than a AR rifle? A AR in pistol configuration you are loosing energy and range effectiveness. Seems a pistol would be cheaper seeing how a rifle has more benefits than looking cool. Just my 2 cents which ain’t much in this world.

There are benefits to owning an AR pistol that outweigh the rifle for the most part. But, if one is only considering long distance then you would be right. Most want the best of both worlds like size, maneuverability for room clearing or easily movable within you home. It basically depends on what your intended purpose for it is, In an ideal situation one would have a rifle and a pistol in the same caliber and using the same magazine. AR pistols have grown in popularity over the past few years so, demand drives the price.

Economies of scale.

There are way more people making cheap AR rifles parts than pistol parts. If you make barrels you can stamp out 16.5" barrels all day long. For a pistol you'll make a small run of 8", another of 10", another for 11.5". etc, etc, etc. Buffer systems, handguards, etc. are all going to be more expensive.

Then add the fact that literally everyone makes an AR rifle, which a lot fewer companies make AR pistols.

And finally, AR pistols are in demand these days, while rifle's aren't.

More demand and lower supply = higher prices across the board.

If you are using ODT as your source for pricing you need to stop. I have seen quite a few deals on pistol set ups for pretty cheap. Especially if you buy a complete upper and lower parts kit, you supply the stripped lower. You could be out the door for close to 500 with a lot of those set ups.

Same thing as handguns. Companies come out with a new model in full size. 6 months later they produce a compact or sub compact. Charge more for the smaller ones
