I have a new to me rifle that I am trying to mount a scope on. The screws that came with the scope base I purchased are too long and protrude through the receiver and impinge on the bolt. My Google-fu has failed me on where to procure some shorter screws. Will these work?

Those will work if it takes torx head type screws. If it uses bevel or flat screws those may not work. Call brownells and talk with a technician and they can help you with what you need to fix

I solved that problem a couple years ago. I bought an assortment of firearm accessory screws from I think Midway if I remember correctly. Somewhere around 100 screws for $15 or $20 bucks. Different lengths and head shapes.

I have ordered some hardware from Brownells as I haven't had the best of luck shortening and chamfering screws. I will report back if they will work or not.

I ordered the two shortest sizes available and the shortest length, the 0.150 ended up being what I needed. There is a review about the black steel screws being a bit soft but I only needed one so I'm not too concerned about it.
