They did that to their ownselves.
I hate it, but do you have any idea how many time they’ve been told this and a plethora of other “reasonable” excuses? Women cry, show cleavage, men have bathroom emergency’s, usually something somewhat demeaning to make the officer feel sorry for them.
I find it amusing how many people want LE to be absolutely fair and consistent at most times, and usually then want it to be no longer “fair” but lenient when it comes to them or someone they know.
While I appreciate a break by the police, it’s not really their place. That’s what judges are for, they get to be the ones to take into account extenuating circumstances.
I’m not saying that LE shouldn’t never decide to give breaks, they are human and want them to act as such. However as humans they may have reasons for being stricter than some others.
I tried to be as reasonable as I could when I was LE, but I can honestly say I never got a complaint when I wrote a ticket, or enforced some law. Every last one was when I gave someone a break, never understood that...
Even in a "work zone" where no workers are present at that time, it's still a more dangerous place to drive than a regular road that is not being worked on.
The signage is different, there traffic cones and barrels everywhere, sometimes there's no emergency breakdown lane or space on the shoulder of the road for a disabled vehicle to pull over. In work zones we often find that acceleration and exit ramps are unusually short and poorly marked. The signs for the exits and street names are often gone or placed where people aren't expecting them.
All of these things are reasons that the speed limit in a work zone should be lower and the penalties for violating it stricter. Even without the factor of putting construction workers lives in danger.

Several of you guys were speaking about coughing on or throwing up on an officer for doing his job. It may be that the officer has small children or grandchildren or small babies in his family that he is around everyday.
Why would anyone advocate someone taking a virus or whatever home to little ones, the elderly that already have problems or maybe a pregnant wife? What if his mother with terminal cancer or COPD lives with him? Would you want someone to do that to you and your loved ones? I hope not.
I know that I would not want anyone intentionally trying to make me or my family sick.

Umm cause they enforce law... These guys can’t stand someone to inform them that they are wrong, so they hate anyone that may.
I know there are LE that have the personality of a brick and are assholes.
Just like there are asshole, who... let’s just say work on guns. And every other job description, except for mabe mother Teresa.
But to wish wholesale harm on a group of people is probably irrational.
